LALI GURANS - THE BAND OF THE BRIGADE OF GURKHAS

Although the Band's traditional Nepali folk group existed from the late 1960's its performance were confined to work within the Regimental messes of the 2nd King Edward's VIIs Own Goorkhas (The Sirmoor Rifles).

In early 1993 the Assistant Director of Music, Captain (QGO) Gaubahadur Gurung, suggested that the group should be given an official title and subsequently organised a competition within the Band to find a suitable and appropriate name.

LCpl Chakrabahadur Singh, currently SSgt and Drum Major, was the proud winner with - "Lali Gurans"
