The Twentieth Century will be remembered chiefly, not for its innovations in science and industry, but for the two largest conflicts the world has ever known - the World Wars.

The Band of the Irish Guards is stationed in London where its most regular duty is to play, in turn with other Foot Guards Bands, at the Queen's Guard Mounting Ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The Band also plays for all State occasions and many public duties such as Investitures, State Visits, Royal Weddings, Guards of Honour, Royal Garden Parties and of course The Queen's Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour).

In addition to their musical activities the musicians are all trained as Medical Assistants.
