For this musical tribute to "The Few", we begin with the "Fanfare on the RAF Call" by Randolph O'Donnell past Director of Music of the Raf Central Band. The film "The Battle of Britain" originally had a score by Sir William Walton which was rejected by the film's producers. Ron Goodwin contributed the bulk of the film's music, of which two marches were chosen here, "The Battle of Britain March" and the "Luftwaffe March", now Anglicised and often played by RAF Bands as "Aces High" . Sir William Walton was one of the leading British composers of this century, his wartime masterpiece "Spitfire Prelude and Fugue" was composed for the film "The First of the Few" and graphically captures the history of this famous aircraft in music.
