OF LIGHT - MUSIC OF THE LIGHT DIVISION
(2 DISCS)
The
Light Division, formed on 1st July 1968, is an administrative grouping
of two of the United Kingdom's finest Infantry regiments. The Light
Infantry and The Royal Green Jackets. Each has its own origins,
but both share a common heritage founded upon the enlightened ideas of
General Sir John Moore who, in 1803, formed the first Light Brigade at
Shorncliffe Kent. Subsequently the Brigade fought with great distinction
in the Peninsular War, expanding, in 1810, to become The Light Division
and Corps d'Elite of Wellington's Army. Divisions under the
same title later fought in both the Crimean and First World Wars.
